The Giant 2027 Propel Advanced 2 is the fourth-generation Propel aero road bike, built on an Advanced-Grade Composite frameset with a 12-speed Shimano 105 hydraulic groupset. It is the entry point into Giant's aero race platform without giving up the shaping that makes it fast.

Why you'll love this Giant Propel Advanced 2

  • Gen 4 aero frameset: Advanced-Grade Composite frame and fork with a full-composite OverDrive steerer and 12x142mm rear thru-axle.
  • 12-speed Shimano 105: 105 shifters and derailleurs with 105 HRD hydraulic levers and an 11-36 cassette.
  • Confident braking: Shimano SM-RT64 rotors, 160mm front and 140mm rear.
  • Tubeless aero wheels: Giant P-A1 Disc wheelset, 38mm deep with 21mm internal width, on Gavia Course 0 tubeless tyres.
  • Two colourways: White or Mach Blue, in S, M and ML.

Who this bike suits

  • Good for: riders who want a genuine aero race frameset at the accessible end of the range, and who are happy with mechanical shifting. The 11-36 cassette gives a usable climbing gear straight out of the box.
  • Less suitable for: riders set on electronic shifting or carbon wheels — those come with the Advanced 1 and Advanced Pro 0 builds. Pure climbers may prefer the lighter TCR platform over an aero frame.

Riding an aero road bike in Hong Kong

An aero frameset earns its keep on sustained speed, which in Hong Kong means Tolo Harbour, the Tai Po to Tai Mei Tuk cycle track and the New Territories flats rather than the climbs. On Route Twisk or Tai Mo Shan the aero advantage matters less than gearing — which is why the 11-36 cassette on this build is the right call for local riding.

Two practical points for riding here:

  • Humidity and sweat corrode drivetrains fast. Rinse and dry after wet rides and re-lube the chain more often than a European service schedule suggests. Hydraulic discs are a real advantage in summer downpours.
  • Storage. A full-size road bike is roughly 175 x 105 cm with the front wheel on. Check lift access and whether your building permits bikes in common areas before delivery — many Hong Kong estates do not.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes is the Propel Advanced 2 available in?

S (50 cm), M (52 cm) and ML (54.5 cm), in both White and Mach Blue. Contact us with your height and inseam before ordering and we will advise on frame size, or tell you if none of the available sizes will fit you.

What is the difference between the Propel Advanced 2, Advanced 1 and Advanced Pro 0?

All three share the Gen 4 Advanced-Grade Composite aero frameset. The differences are the groupset and the wheels:

  • Advanced 2 — HK$21,800: mechanical Shimano 105, Giant P-A1 alloy 38mm wheels.
  • Advanced 1 — HK$32,800: electronic Shimano 105 Di2, Giant SLR 2 50 hookless carbon wheels.
  • Advanced Pro 0 — HK$48,800: Shimano Ultegra Di2, SLR 0 50 carbon wheels, a Giant Power Pro power meter, a one-piece integrated aero cockpit and an Advanced SL-Grade fork.

Is the Propel Advanced 2 tubeless ready?

Yes. It ships tubeless prepared with Giant Gavia Course 0 tubeless folding tyres in 700x28C on 21mm internal width rims.

Is the gearing low enough for Hong Kong climbs?

The 36/52 crankset with an 11-36 cassette gives a 36x36 bottom gear — a one-to-one ratio, low enough for sustained local climbs for most riders in reasonable condition.

Are pedals included?

No. Pedals are not supplied, which is standard at this level — most riders already have a pedal and cleat system.

Aero bike or lightweight climbing bike for Hong Kong?

If most of your riding is flat distance along Tolo Harbour or in a group, the aero Propel is faster for the same effort. If you mainly ride the hills, a lighter TCR gives more benefit per dollar. Both use the same Advanced-Grade Composite construction.

Is delivery free in Hong Kong?

Yes. Bikes are delivered free in Hong Kong with no minimum order. Delivery to the outlying islands is not included — please contact us for a quote.
