The DUDE 18 is the board to buy if stability matters more than the last half-knot. Same 5.49 m length as the MOJO 18 but 76 cm wide instead of 66 cm, with 470 dm³ of volume and a 250 kg load rating — enough for a rower plus a passenger, a dog, and a week's dry bags. It is the ROWonAIR board most people should learn to scull on.

Who is the DUDE 18 for?

Three buyers, mainly. Rowers new to sculling, who need a platform that stays flat while they work out the catch. Pairs, because 76 cm and 250 kg means a passenger can sit behind the rower without the boat protesting. And anyone touring — the extra volume carries luggage that the narrower boards cannot. If you already scull confidently and row alone, the MOJO 18 will be faster for the same money.

How stable is it, in practice?

Stable enough to stand on. The width and the 470 dm³ volume give it a wide righting arm, and at 14 PSI in Woven-Fusion Drop Stitch the deck stays flat rather than dishing under your weight. The front half of the hull still carries the 4° V-bottom and rocker line the range is built around, so the stability is not bought with a barge-like hull — it still glides. Where you notice the width is in the blade path: your hands travel slightly further to clear the gunwale than on a MOJO.

Does the extra size make it harder to transport?

Marginally. Packed it is 85 × 45 × 40 cm against the MOJO's 75 cm case, and the whole outfit is 19.3 kg against 18 kg. It still goes in a wheeled backpack, still fits a car boot, and still inflates in under ten minutes with the supplied pump. Three fins — one 7.7″ rear, two 2.4″ forward — keep it tracking straight.

Which rowing system fits it?

The Flat Outrigger version of either — RowVista® forward rowing with blade feathering, or RowMotion® classic reverse sculling. Both clip into the pre-mounted D-rings, tension with a strap and assemble in about two minutes without tools. The DUDE's width suits a first-time sculler with a RowVista®, because facing forward removes the other half of the learning curve. Rowing systems are sold separately.
